Bauhaus Festival

Marc Almond, John Harle | 20th May 2022 | 19th May 2023

Eleanor's composition 'Concrete Lines' and 'Parabola'; was selected for the Bauhaus Festival, a project organised by John Harle. The concert kicked off with 'Concrete Lines' and ended with a guest performance from the one and only Marc Almond.

'Concrete Lines' was inspired by Arnold Schoenberg's use of the twelve-tone technique. I arranged the (twelve) notes of the chromatic scale, and then transformed the original row by inversion, retrograde, and retrograde-inversion. I also looked into Johannes Itten's colour theory, which suggests that certain colours are associated with a specific emotion - 'colours are forces, radiant energies that affect us positively or negatively, whether we are aware of it or not' - Johannes Itten.
